Position Summary: The Portfolio Manager assists and supports Relationship Managers in all aspects of managing a commercial loan portfolio. This position works with the Relationship Manager, Loan Assistants, and customers to gather relevant information, prepare documents, obtain financial statements, complete credit analysis and credit memos, assist in loan reviews, and provide customer service and support.

Reports To: Market Executive

Responsibilities:

  • Work with both Loan Assistant and Relationship Manager to collect financial and related data to determine the general credit worthiness of prospects and customers and determine the merits of the specific loan request.
  • Direct financial information to credit analysts for spreading and analysis.
  • Assume ownership of assigned loans with little or no direct supervision.
  • Prepare the loan package, for both new and maturing loans, in its entirety for review and approval by the Relationship Manager and other required approvers.
  • Support the collection of past due loans.
  • Support the clearing of credit and collateral exceptions.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of loan documentation and bank terminology.
  • Obtain and retain product knowledge.
  • Monitor new developments in lending and maintain compliance with bank policies and regulations.
  • Participate with Relationship Manager in business development activities including making direct sales calls to prospects and customers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Follow BSA, CIP and OFAC procedures as outlined in the Bank’s BSA Policy

Minimum Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Associate’s Degree Preferred, with emphasis in Finance and/or Accounting or equivalent experience in financial analysis is preferred.
  • One year of experience in commercial and/or consumer lending or related business experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and follow technical procedures and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Good interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and fellow employees.
  • General knowledge of laws and regulations related to loans and lending.
  • Ability to analyze a credit application for completeness and to determine documents needed on loans.
  • Self-starter with good organizational skills, detail oriented and goal focused.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and financial spreadsheet programs.
